The Story

Travel Date: June 25th- July 2nd, 2017

A lifestyle worth sharing

Sébastien Marquet knows "Joie De Vivre".  The quintessential, winemaker with deep roots in the heart of Burgundy, has a  lust for wine, for life, and people, which energizes all who cross his path.

Simple, and genuine, warm, and approachable.   These are the qualities that attracted me to Sébastien and those which will forever keep me close to him.

Sebastien has taught me wine, without preaching or lecturing.  He opened my eyes, and mind, because through him I yearned to see and learn.  His rustic manner, with a heavy dose of positivity, and humour serves to enlighten my perspective on nature, farming, and life... I am not alone.  Others too, are attracted, and have benefited from Sébastien for these and so many other qualities; the French Purpan School interns who spend 3 months a year with Sébastien learning about life, along with the wine making process. His patrons who often become friends at various wineries. Academics who visit with Sébastien and appreciate his feedback and knowledge.  Winery owners who seek his guidance from his 30 years experience in the field, and lastly, yet not at all in the least, our three boys whom each have gained a tremendous amount of life lessons from his teachings of the wine process, life, and their time in the vineyard with a father, and mentor.

Soon enough, it became clear to me, that Sébastien possessed something very special; he is a natural teacher, has an innate ability to inspire people of all walks of life, he demystifies the complexities of wine, winemaking and the wine world.  And all this, he accomplishes, in a simple and genuine way, for all to understand, and be enlightened.

Being from Burgundy must have something to do with his way.  The wine culture runs deep through the veins of those born there.  It is so engrained in the makeup of everyday,  that it essentially becomes a visceral part of the life of every citizen.  Wine is natural, its discussions too.  And the Burgundy lifestyle, entrenched with wholesome food, the wine, family and friends, is something that is an intrinsic element of Sébastien’s very being; his Burgundy roots.

And so years ago, shortly after Sebastien and I became a couple, I suggested that it would be a wonderful idea to take a few of our winery clients and friends to Burgundy.  After all, Sébastien is a native, a winemaker, we would gain a back door access to the places we'd like to visit, and his ability to share this most important aspect of his life in such a natural way seemed like a perfect scenario.

Off we flew to our first of many Burgundy Experiences in 2010.  The trip was a smash.  We all had a wonderful time, and our friends and clients  were moved in unexpected ways .  We created stronger bonds with them, connected with a many of our Burgundian winemaker friends, saw amazing sights, tasted delectable wines, visited vineyards, chateaux, and domaines.  The process made us discover that we wanted to continue to share what we love, the Burgundy lifestyle, with clients, and friends.  We decided that we would do it again, and again, and again.  Each planned experience evolved with its own wonderful surprises, anecdotes, laughter, and joyful moments.  2017 marks our 4th Burgundy Experience to date.  We are very excited to  what awaits us.  We invite you to explore this site, and see what we have planned for this upcoming Burgundy Experience 2017.

Come with us,  live the Burgundy Lifestyle... meet the people, drink their wine...live the life with the Burgundy Experience!

See you in Burgundy,

Isabelle
